About The Reggio Academy

Our Philosophy

Loris Malaguzzi & The Reggio Emilia Approach

"Learning  and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the  river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down  the water"

-Loris malaguzzil.

Background

Loris Malaguzzi was a journalist, activist, and educator who shaped the  Reggio Emilia philosophy. This approach to education brings a  collaboration between parents, teachers, children, their environment,  and and the community as a whole.

Methodology

At Reggio Academy, we believe in the idea that children have 100  Languages, meaning multiple ways of learning and expressing their  learning. Children should have direction in their learning, using things  they are interested in to pique their curiosity.

Teachers

The Three Teachers of the Reggio Emilia Approach

The Parent
The parent is viewed as an active partner and guide in the education of the child at home and at school.

The Educator
The educator observes each child and documents observations, using these to plan lessons and projects based on each child's needs and interests.

The Environment
The environment is centered around the children and their exploring and learning, easily accessible to the children, including elements of nature..
